Albums and EPs · for bands
Albums and EPs.
A record is more than its songs. It has an order, a level that holds from the first track to the last, and a format to press. We mix and master albums and EPs as one record.
Mastering an album
- One level and one tone across the record. Each song is mastered on its own terms, then set against the others, so nothing jumps out when the record plays through.
- Order, gaps and fades. The space between songs is part of the record. Send your running order and we set the gaps and fades to suit it.
- The dynamics of a live band kept. Real drums need room to hit. We don't flatten a band to win a loudness contest that streaming platforms cancel anyway.
- Every format from one session: a streaming master, CD files and a DDP image, and a vinyl premaster cut to fit the sides.
Mixing an album
- One price per song, master included, with album and EP discounts. See prices.
- Two rounds of changes per song, with notes taken by timestamp.
- A 50% deposit starts the mix. The balance is due before the final files.
- Recorded anywhere. Send multitracks from wherever you tracked: a studio, a rehearsal room or a home setup.
Grant-funded records
State programmes such as Music Works in Victoria and the NSW recording grants list mixing and mastering as eligible costs. We write itemised quotes for grant budgets, with our ABN and GST shown. Grants by state.
Vinyl
Rock and band records are most of the vinyl that gets pressed, and vinyl has its own limits: side length, low end, sibilance. Vinyl mastering.
