TEMPUS is Thomas Beard's mixing and mastering practice. Every track is heard before work starts, and nothing goes out until it holds up on the systems people actually listen on.
Thomas Beard
Thomas works between Melbourne and Europe. He masters and mixes for producers, labels and bands, and his own music is house and techno, so electronic records are where he's most at home. He also spends much of his time on band records, where the job is to keep a band sounding like a band.
He started his career at Deluxe Mastering in Brunswick, where he trained for two years.
Credits include Shimza, Dellacoma, Sunnyside and Farafield. All credits. Credited as Thomas Beard, and earlier as Tom Beard.
How we work
- Listen first. If a mix isn't ready, we say so before anyone pays for a master that can't fix it.
- Match the references, not a number. Loudness is set by ear against the records you send.
- Keep the dynamics. Streaming platforms turn loud masters down. Punch survives; squashed masters don't.
- Write it down. Every master comes with a short note on the mix.

TEMPUS is run by Tempus Entertainment Pty Ltd (ABN 74 645 130 641), registered in Victoria. The same company runs upturn, a music distribution platform built on the blockchain, outside the traditional streaming ecosystem.
